What to consider when choosing the most effective Title IX training

Title IX training is designed to educate students, faculty, staff, and employees about the legal requirements of Title IX and the policies and procedures that schools and educational institutions must implement to prevent and address sexual misconduct.

Title IX training is crucial for creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning and work environment in educational institutions. It helps to:
    • Promote a culture of respect: It helps to build a culture where all members of the school community feel safe and respected.
    • Prevent sexual misconduct: It provides students, faculty, and staff with the information and skills they need to recognize, respond to, and prevent sexual misconduct.
    • Comply with federal regulations: Annual training on Title IX is a requirement for all employees (including student employees) in all post-secondary educational programs that receive federal funding.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program or activity that receives federal financial assistance. It applies to all students, faculty, staff, and employees of educational institutions, including colleges, universities, and vocational schools.

Title IX prohibits a wide range of behaviors, including:
    • Sexual harassment
    • Sexual assault
    • Dating violence
    • Domestic violence
    • Stalking

Title IX requires educational institutions to establish clear procedures for reporting incidents of sexual misconduct. It also prohibits retaliation against anyone who reports an incident or participates in an investigation.

    • It protects all members of the educational community: Title IX protections apply to all students, faculty, staff, and employees of educational institutions.
    • It includes pregnancy: Title IX also protects individuals from discrimination based on pregnancy and childbirth.
    • It's essential to report: If you experience or witness sexual misconduct, it's important to report the incident to the school's designated Title IX coordinator.
